THE NEW YOU
A TO Z PROGRAM
Lesson 4
“What is Truth? A difficult question; but I have solved it for myself by saying that it is what the ‘voice within’ tells you.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi
I chose this above quote because, after identifying some goals, it is now time to delve into the most important part of human existence: connection; connection to yourself, others and spirit.
Connect to Self Deepening Practice
Do something you enjoy, something with physical stimulation. Whether that be exercise or an aromatherapy bath, it is grounding. Being rooted in your body is an important factor in the balance of life we are striving for.
Connection with Others
It is said that to overcome unpleasant situations, in order to move through them in a healthy way, an undertaking of "corrective emotional experience" (Alexander and French Attached Focused EMDR Healing Emotional Trauma) must be done. In another words, work can be done to create new neural pathways to reframe the experience, or gain affect tolerance (essentially being able to cope well and have come to terms with it).
What does it mean to “hold space” for someone else?
It means that we are willing to walk alongside another person in whatever journey they’re on without judging them, making them feel inadequate, trying to fix them, or trying to impact the outcome. When we hold space for other people, we open our hearts, offer unconditional support, and let go of judgement and control. To truly support people in their own growth, transformation, grief, etc., we can’t do it by taking their power away (i.e. trying to fix their problems), shaming them (ie. implying that they should know more than they do), or overwhelming them (i.e. giving them more information than they’re ready for). We have to be prepared to step to the side so that they can make their own choices, offer them unconditional love and support, give gentle guidance when it’s needed, and make them feel safe even when they make mistakes.
My #1 tip for holing space (for yourself or others):
Create a container for complex emotions, fear, trauma, etc. When people feel that they are held in a deeper way than they are used to, they feel safe enough to allow complex emotions to surface that might normally remain hidden. It is good to feel, own it. It goes too far when it lingers more than 18 hours. Any feeling negatively effecting you over that length of time is one that you need to find a way to resolve.
Connection with Spirit
Beyond meditation, reading spiritual literature or the like, I encourage you to listen to the below Extra Credit Videos as well as peruse the member area HERE
We will continue with the connection theme for a few more weeks.

The below videos are a contribution by my wonderful husband. Watch the short 8 minute video for a good prelude to the other videos about scripture, beliefs and how to manifest through prayer.
